5-30-09 Lindsey's Senior Shots by Melanie Grizzel

So freaking cute. Lindsey is graduating from Crockett High School in Austin, Tx in just a few days. She was a little slow to get her senior shots, but I am glad she waited, cause I got to shoot her yesterday. What a doll. Super easy to work with, takes excellent direction. Love her!

Plus I can't help but be impressed, she's starting at UT in the fall to study human biology, she would like to be research scientist... somehow I don't recall having that good a head on my shoulders at 17...
Thanks for working with us Lindsey it was wonderful, good luck in college we hope to see you again sometime.

5-21-09 Trip to Dallas by Melanie Grizzel

This weekend our family is packing it in and traveling to Dallas. My sister and I promised to swap every other month after we had our babies so our babies and we would know each others kids. It's been proving to be pretty difficult to leave on the weekends. So far this year, we were in Dallas in February and my sister's family came here in March, so we are little behind with our visits.

So we are going to Dallas to see my sister's family, my mom and my dad + step-mom, if they're around.
Our plan was to go to Dallas this weekend anyway on Saturday and Sunday, the we discovered we could pull a 4 day weekend so we opted to go for Friday and Saturday and grab a piece of this Memorial Day. Then I got a call the other day from Zoom, Zoom Magazine in Canada and they have asked me to cover the "Mazda Miata" festival in Grapevine and Fort Worth on Sunday.  I'm strangely excited it's not really the kind of thing I'd be into but, we get to go on the race track, Texas Motor Speedway. We'll get to see some "fun races" since I'm told real races would be too much of a liability, bet I can't tell the difference ;)
That's the plan for the weekend. I'm sure we'll have a bazillion pictures to share after.
Family this time we have to let Zoom Zoom publish first. I just love saying it, like the commercial Zoom, Zoom, Zoom!
until next time.

5-18-09 Trysha in town by Melanie Grizzel

yesterday our friend Trysha was in town from New York. She came to San Antonio for a friends wedding and we met up with her on Sunday post wedding. She was a wee under the weather but we had a great time walking the River Walk and taking in a beer here -n- there. The weather was perfect. a gloriously beautiful day.

Sadly though, we still couldn't shoot Christina and Matt. We are synchronizing our watches, soon we should be able to find a time to reschedule.
We are gearing up for the bridal extravaganza and we are having some sample books made for our office so we picked 3 books to try out.
For our grande collection we are considering this:

We certainly would love to hear your opinion, what do you think, which would you rather have?
Talk to you soon.

5-14-09 Thoughts from Jamie and Shaun by Melanie Grizzel

Jamie was so excited about our work that she left messages every so often and full review I can't even see on the knot. I imagine it's pretty good based on her thoughts in several emails.

Jamie and Shaun's wedding was held at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, Austin on March 7, 2009
March 10 - "omg. We're adorable. Love them!"
March 12 - "I am so excited to see the rest of the pictures! These are wonderful."
March 23 - "Everyone loved you guys and have been so impressed!"
April 3 - "We LOVE them. You all did awesome."
March 10th and 12th were responses to our quick turnaround to the our blog and April 3rd was a week old response to them receiving their discs. We promise final files in 1 month but usually get them to our clients in 2-3 weeks. So it's fun and exciting to get pictures so quickly.
We appreciate all of our clients and with Jamie and Shaun there is no exception. They were cute as a button and comfortable.
We love you guys too. Congratulations! Best of Luck in your new life together.

5-13-09 Look Out at the Lavender Farm by Melanie Grizzel

5-12-09 Marie Claire by Melanie Grizzel

During SXSW, I shot images for Marie Claire's Beauty Roadshow. Basically the premise of the story is woman and their style, so we figured with a crowd the likes of the SXSW crowd we're likely to come across a number of fantastic and individual styles. The story has covered all ends of the earth including most recently Spain and Iceland so it was exciting to have them here in Austin, Tx, focused on our sense of style. The story should be well published by now, so here are some of my favorites from the shoot.

5-11-09 Mother's Day weekend by Melanie Grizzel

This was my very first Mother's Day. It was wonderful. "He" really knows how to show Bishop's appreciation. I got an all expense paid trip to the hair salon. So I had my hair cut and did some highlights. I got to go to my favorite hair salon here in Austin, Maximum FX.

When I first moved to Austin from New York I was looking for new subjects to photograph and Leah answered my ad on Craig's List. She came in and she was super cute and she had the best haircut I have ever seen. So I got Maximum FX info from her and started going to the same stylist. Some time has passed and our stylist has moved on and I am working with someone new at the same salon and Leah has moved on too, she is now Whitney Lee's partner. It never ceases to amaze me how small the world it.
Friday night we got to watch the LA Lakers win against the Houston Rockets and then on Sunday our excitement faded fast as we watched the Rockets trounce the Lakers. There are still 3 games left in the series and it's still anyone's win.
On Saturday afternoon we went to Faith's first birthday party. We all had a blast including Bishop who decided it would be a perfect time for a cat nap. In the pictures are Chloe, Faiths good friend, Faith, the birthday girl, and Bishop, another of Faith's good friends.

5-3-09 Nancy + John Engagement by Melanie Grizzel

I'd really love to blog about this couple they are super interesting, they've been dating since high school, mostly long distance while Nancy took a scholarship to UCLA for volleyball, now they live here in Austin and are happily engaged until October. But I promised I'd get these up as quick as possible so they can get them for their save the dates.

They were awesome and patient with the sun as it made it's final decent into the horizon.
I hope you enjoy.

5-4-09 Sheryl's thoughts by Melanie Grizzel

Back in March we photographed Sheryl and Rob's wedding. Sheryl is "in the business" as they say. She works in advertising as an art buyer so she KNOWS photography and we were honored to be asked to photograph her wedding. Click < here> to view the post for that day.

She got her images by mail this weekend and she sent an email immediately. I just wanted to share with you, her thoughts.
"love love love the pics - they are so awesome!!!!!!   we are  THRILLED!!!"

There you have it folks, straight from a bride herself, she's thrilled! And you will be too.

4-3-09 Peggy Roberts by Melanie Grizzel

Last week, Steve's grandmother Peggy Roberts passed away, from a short but traumatic bought with cancer. She was a gracious and proud great grandmother to 4, grandmother to 8, mother to 4, and wife to 1.
Her cancer was diagnosed after a stroke that essentially blinded her and left her dependent which was excruciating for her. Luckily from diagnosis to the end was only about 6 weeks, while it was terrible, it was short and she got to spend her sick days with friends and family around her.
She was an avid golfer in her younger days and I was told she played a round of golf about 2 months ago. She got hole in one that day, for the second time.
She lived a long and fruitful life and now she is free to find her beloved Don in the afterlife.
She will be missed.
